Standing “Stationary,” I Wrote on Some “Stationery”

We are fully into graduation season, a time when people celebrate completing some level of schooling and go through some ceremony to mark the occasion. They usually receive gifts, too. Maybe some money, piece of jewelry, electronic gadget, or card.

Another common gift is stationery, writing material including paper often saying something such as “From the Desk of (name),” monogrammed pencils and pens, and envelopes.

What you don’t get is stationary. I don’t consider “standing in one place” a gift. You might get plantar fasciitis if you’re on your feet too often, but I wouldn’t want that.

Until next time! Use the right words!
