“That Three Times Fast”

Every so often, somebody would stumble over his or her words, and someone in return would comment, “Easy for you to say” or “Try saying that three times fast.”

That person obviously is trying to be cute and witty and humorous. My response is to say “three times fast” and then look at that person with a look of bewilderment, as if to say, Why do you think it’s so difficult to say, “three times fast?”

Reminds me of something I heard as a kid:

Person 1: Are you smart?

Person 2: Yes.

Person 1: Well, then spell it.

Person 2: S-M-A-R-T.

Person 1: Wrong. It’s I-T.

Just another example of  the humor we’d see if we only heard what we said.

Until next time! Use the right words!
