Too Stupid to Even Use a Cliché

I recently heard someone utter a sarcastic comment, “Sing me a river,” which immediately made me think of a line from the 1982 movie “Porky’s.”

In that film, a Jewish character, Brian Schwartz (played by Scott Colomby) points out that racist Tim Cavanaugh (Wayne Maunder) is incorrectly calling him a “kite.” Then he says, “You know, you’re too stupid to even be a good bigot!”

I’ve written that using a cliché is lazy and makes you sound unintelligent. To the above-mentioned speaker, I would say, “Hey, it’s not ‘Sing Me a River,’ it’s ‘Cry Me a River.’ You know, you’re too stupid to even use a cliché!”

Until next time! Use the right words!
