What are They Teaching in High School? Part 2

Another day, another soccer match, another example that makes me shake my head.

A team scored a goal, which is always cause for celebration. After the restart, I overheard someone on the bench say, “That’s the closest we’re going to get to scoring a goal.”

To which I responded, “Yes, scoring a goal is the closest you’ll get to scoring a goal.”

The players laughed. I wasn’t sure if they understood how silly the comment was.

Some days later, I’m still unsure.

Until next time! Use the right words!
