Anger Makes us Say Some Strange Stuff

When we’re feeling normal, we still can manage to utter a series of words that, if we thought about it, sound funny. That might be doubly true when we’re feeling not so normal.

The other day, as I waited my turn to use the ATM, I heard a man across the parking lot shout at a woman who apparently had just hit his car and tried to leave.

“You’re trying to leave the scene of a crime!” the man shouted. The woman said something I couldn’t hear, and the man responded (and I’m cleaning up his language), “Because you’re trying to leave the scene of a crime! You’re trying to leave the scene of a crime!”

Then he shouted, “Get out of here before I call the police!”

I wondered if he realized he couldn’t have it both ways.

Until next time! Use the right words!
